Location is everything when looking for an apartment. Being close to things like shopping, schools, or entertainment might be the most critical things people look for. If you’re an arts and culture buff, you may find it important to live in apartments near Lawrence museums. Lawrence, Kansas has museums that just about anyone will enjoy, from natural history to contemporary art. There’s lots of culture in the area, and at our Remington Square Apartments, you have access to it all. You can find education and adventure at these Lawrence museums:

Spencer Museum of Art

With their rotating exhibitions and collections of art from around the world, the Spencer Museum of Art offers two floors of galleries for visitors to enjoy. The museum is located on the University of Kansas campus and provides a vibrant cultural center that connects people to art. The museum is host to more than 45,000 works, including genres like African, Latin American, European, Asian, Native American, and American art. The Spencer Museum encourages guests to write and draw about what they see, so they offer pencils and drawing pads at the welcome desk for those who want to detail their journey through the museum. Changing exhibitions means that guests can always come back to the museum and experience something new. The best part is that the museum is free to visitors, meaning free entertainment whenever the museum is open.

KU Natural History Museum

Four floors of exhibits will entertain kids and adults alike. Visitors can see almost 9 million plants, animals, and fossils, as well as 1.2 million archeological artifacts. Pick up one of the discovery guides to help lead your tour of the museum in the forms of scavenger hunts or museum checklists. Enjoy regular museum events to further your education and amazement. Some exhibits include the historic panorama, live snakes and insects, parasites and microbes, and vertebrate and invertebrate fossils. The museum is home to Comanche, the steed ridden by Captain Myles Keogh in the Battle of Little Big Horn. With lots to do and see at the museum, there’s always something new to learn!

Haskell Cultural Center and Museum

This museum celebrates the strength and resiliency of the First Nations tribes in the area after they were almost wiped out in the 1800s. The museum features historical objects relating to the history and missions of the university, ethnographic objects, and fine art created by eminent American Indian artists as well as Haskell students and faculty. Visitors can also explore the history of the Haskell school as well as the history of the Native Americans in the area. Watch historical films and visit the oral library, where videotaped oral interviews with tribal elders from various tribes are stored. Visitors can also take a walking tour of the campus, in which the guide will point out and talk about various historical buildings and structures.
